In creating this symbol (using Fireworks), I tried to show the Coast Starlight as a train that ties all these cities, communities, regions, and attractions together. From left to right: Seattle--with its Space Needle and highrise downtown skyline--is the starting point (southbound); Portland --with Mount Hood lording over its domain, which includes Portland's downtown skyline; Totem poles symbolize the various Native-America tribes of the northwest, their customs, arts and crafts, and history; San Francisco is renowned for its picturesque Golden Gate Bridge; the train follws the Pacific Ocean--such as that shown here--for more than 100 miles; Hollywood perhaps comes formost to people's minds when thinking about the Los Angeles area--with its glittering stars of today and yesteryear. The Coast Starlight not only serves these cities (or close to it) but also passes through small-town America, such as Woodburn (Oregon). . The Pacific Parlour Car is a treat with many of its amenities just for Sleeping Car passengers. The photos come from a variety of sources, but primarily www.webshots.com and myself.
